Asheville Community Design Lab – Our Teen Programs

Asheville Community Design Lab

Click here to see our 2012 Summer offerings…We will be working with the Asheville Design Center’s Design-build lab as well as exploring multiple visual art mediums!!

Asheville Community Design Lab is devoted to programming focused on art and design for community change. The ACDL is a partnership between local artists Ginger Huebner of Roots + Wings School of Art and Brent Skidmore of UNC Asheville.  Thanks to Asheville City Schools for allowing us this great opportunity to be housed at the Randolph School in Montford.  We work with UNC Asheville Arts 310 students and teens as a collaborative team designing solutions to our communities needs. We established the design lab at the Randolph School by working with Asheville Middle School’s irl after school program.  Teams of students worked on our design lab classroom, a new mural in the cafeteria as well as an outdoor landscape project.  Future projects will involve working with the Randolph School students and other teens, along with the Asheville Design Center (ADC) on new mural and playground designs, bus shelter designs, beautification projects, and other REAL community projects leading to change.
