Our Asheville Community Design Lab After-school Programs offer a creative and stimulating after school option for students. Our mission is to engage students in academics, critical thinking and innovation through principles of design, community enrichment, language, and movement. We provide a safe and nurturing environment, including a healthy snack, outdoor time, and free choice time along with hands-on innovation time.
Visit our ACDL website www.ashevillecommunitydesignlab.com for a comprehensive overview of the Asheville Community Design Lab Programs
We work through our host school’s Parent Team Organization and give back a cost per student enrolled back to the PTO each month. This money is also used to provide scholarship assistance to students as well as provide support for the school’s Arts Departments.
The ACDL after-school program is an extension of the Asheville Community Design Lab, founded by local artists Ginger Huebner of Roots + Wings School of Art and Brent Skidmore of UNC Asheville. ACDL is devoted to programming focused on art and design for community change. Thanks to Asheville City Schools, the home base of the ACDL is housed at the William Randolph School. Our collaborative team includes a variety of community organizations and institutions such as local universities and colleges, the Asheville Design Center, Asheville Writers in the Schools, and the Asheville City Schools Foundation.
